Where to Find Silver in Subnautica 2 (Every Biome, by the Numbers)
Silver in Subnautica 2 comes from nodes, deposits and loose pickups. Which biomes have the most, how to mine it, and what it crafts.

Silver is an early bottleneck in Subnautica 2. Your Wiring Kit and Standard Air Tank both need it, and the game’s own hint sends you into caves for it. Below is every silver spawn in the game.
The quick answer
The in-game databank entry for silver says: “Search target: cave entrances and cave walls to the northwest of the lifepod.” It also mentions that silver deposits grow alongside the silver dolor, a translucent, flower-like organism that lives in shallow caves. If you spot one, there’s silver nearby.
Silver by biome
Every silver node, deposit and loose pickup placed in the world, by biome:
| Biome | Silver spawns |
|---|---|
| Axum Ruins | 209 |
| Coral Gardens | 89 |
| Plateaus | 38 |
| Sparse Plains | 13 |
| Graveyard | 10 |
| Total | 359 |
There are also 112 silver spawns in Scorpius, an area we haven’t covered on the site yet, so we’ve left them out.
Axum Ruins has more silver than the rest of this list put together (209 against 150). Coral Gardens comes second with 89.
Nodes, deposits and loose pickups
Silver shows up in three forms:
- Loose pickups sit on the seafloor. You just grab them.
- Silver nodes take 4 hits to break.
- Silver deposits are resonatable. You need a Sonic Resonator to break them, and it costs 1 Basic Battery, 2 Titanium Ingot, 2 Lead and 1 Wiring Kit at the Fabricator.
That last one is a small catch-22, since the resonator needs a wiring kit and the wiring kit needs silver. Get your first few pieces from nodes and loose pickups.
Coral Crabs drop silver too
Coral Crabs in two Coral Gardens areas, the Plateaus and Tufa Towers, have a 50% chance to drop silver. It’s a decent backup if the caves are picked clean.

Silver Finder and Mineral Nibbler
Two biomods tie into silver. Silver Finder highlights nearby silver when you get close. Mineral Nibbler lets you eat minerals, and each silver you nibble gives 60 water. See the biomods guide for how unlocking works.
