Accessibility statement
We want SN Database to work for everyone, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, zoom or voice control.
Standard
We aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We check every page type with automated tests and by hand (keyboard only, 400% zoom, text spacing, screen-reader names). The site has not been audited by an outside body, and parts of it don't fully meet the standard yet; they are listed below.
What you can expect
- Pages work with a keyboard alone (the map markers are the exception, see below), with a visible focus ring and a "Skip to content" link.
- Text and controls meet AA contrast on the dark theme; pages reflow down to 320 px wide.
- Animations are switched off when your system asks for reduced motion.
- Search suggestions, list filters, the map search and the save viewer announce their results to screen readers.
- Most pages show third-party ads from NitroPay. Each in-page unit is marked "Advertisement". How those ads use cookies is on the privacy policy.
Known limitations
- Interactive maps (Subnautica, Below Zero, Subnautica 2 and the biome maps): single markers can't be reached one by one with a keyboard or screen reader, and marker clusters may overlap. Use the map's search box (it works with a keyboard and opens the marker's details), the layer and depth controls, or the same places as lists: landmarks, the fragment finder, points of interest, biomes and the scanner checklist.
- "Your save" on the Subnautica and Below Zero maps: your bases, vehicles and beacons are drawn on the map; the panel lists the same things in text.
- Game screenshots and icons come from the games. They are named, but not described in detail.
- The site has a dark theme only.
